As Honorary Chairman of the second annual Get Ready, Get Set, Get Fit 5K Run/Walk-1 Mile Walk, I encourage your involvement in the race - whether by running, walking or sponsoring a participant. The Department of Public Works has undertaken a major water line rehabilitation in the Ruxton area this spring, between Belona, Malvern, Charles and Joppa roads. Old pipes serving about 600 homes will be cleaned and lined to improve pressure for the community. The contractor's mobilization began in April, and the project will take from a year to eighteen months to complete.

DPW contractors began cleaning and repainting (inside and out) two water storage tanks on Pleasant Hill in June. Work on the tanks, which together hold 1.3 million gallons of water, should be finished by December. The cost: $900,000.
