Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith will hold a pep rally in Towson on August 1, at 7:15 p.m., to cheer-on County residents Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff. With the local Olympian swimmers already in Beijing, Smith will lead the cheers from Baltimore County along with Michael's mother Debbie Phelps, Katie's mother Jean Hoff, area sportscasters, cheerleading squads, local business representatives, and the community at large.
The pep rally will be held during the Towson Chamber of Commerce's weekly summer event, Feet on the Street. Allegheny Avenue in Towson will be closed to traffic for the rally and Feet festival, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission to the rally and festival is free. Refreshments and children activities are available.

As Honorary Chairman of the second annual Get Ready, Get Set, Get Fit 5K Run/Walk-1 Mile Walk, I encourage your involvement in the race - whether by running, walking or sponsoring a participant. Proceeds go to the Baltimore County Department of Aging senior fitness programs in the County's senior centers.
The race will take place on Sunday, September 21, 8:30 a.m., Johnny Unitas Stadium, Towson University.
