EPS Variances

The Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (EPS) publishes a list of the environmental administrative variance requests along with their status. The requests are listed by County Council District.

Planning Board Meetings

The Baltimore County Planning Board meetings  will be held on Thursday, April 18, at 4 p.m. in Room 104 of the Jefferson Building, 105 West Chesapeake Avenue in Towson.

Water Main to Serve Howard County

Contractors will begin replacing a 36-inch diameter water main running from the railroad tracks, near Clark Boulevard, down to South Street and then through the Patapsco State Park. The new line, which will serve Howard County, will be 5,500 feet long. The pipe was manufactured in March. Construction is expected to start in April and be finished in about two years.

Traffic Calming on St. Agnes Lane and Malbrook Road

Public Works traffic engineers submitted plans to residents on St. Agnes Lane for traffic calming measures in winter 2012. The plans, which include three brick-topped speed humps, were reviewed and approved by residents in March. Construction is scheduled for the spring. In addition, the County intends to install a small traffic circle at the intersection of Westowne Road and Malbrook Road, near the City line. Construction is also planned for the spring.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee Meetings

  • Citizen Input Meeting on Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee Citizen Input Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 16, at 5 p.m. in Room 104 of the Jefferson Building, 105 West Chesapeake Avenue in Towson.
 
The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee is interested in hearing your suggestions for new bicycle or pedestrian improvements that could be candidates for grant funding - projects that are low in cost, make it easier or safer for you to access destinations by walking or cycling, and have the support of the community.

Water Transmission Line for Rolling Road Area

Baltimore County is constructing a new water main to serve the Rolling Road Water Tank, near Windsor Mill Road. Two miles of new, 24-inch diameter line will be installed in Powers Lane, Lincoln Woods Drive, Johnnycake Road and Fairbrook Road to supplement the existing line and to “build redundancy for pressure and flow into the system,” according to engineers from the Department of Public Works. The project, using bar-wrapped concrete cylinder pipe to facilitate repairs in the distant future, began in early July 2012, is expected to take 18 months. It should be completed by spring. It is presently 85 percent complete and ahead of schedule. Cost is $3 million.

Bridge Repairs on Valley Road

The Department of Public Works plans to repair two bridges on Valley Road in Catonsville: bridges B-0300 and B-0310, near Rolling Road. Work was expected to begin in October 2012, but was delayed because of regulatory issues. Valley Road is now expected to be closed in June and the work should start shortly thereafter. The project, which includes some stream restoration, is expected to cost $300,000.
