EPS Variances
The Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (EPS) publishes a list of the environmental administrative variance requests along with their status. The requests are listed by County Council District.

Belair Road - TAP Panel Report
On November 16, 2011, Baltimore City and County along with the Urban Land Institute of Baltimore released “Revitalizing the Belair Road Corridor: A ULI Advisory Services Technical Assistance Panel Report.” With the support of Baltimore Mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Baltimore County Executive, Kevin Kamenetz, the report focuses on developing a variety of strategies that aim to revitalize the Belair Road Corridor, which serves as a gateway that links both the City and County. The report includes such recommendations as façade improvements, streetscape enhancements, branding and marketing key nodes along the corridor, as well as ideas for strengthening the communities that live along the corridor.

Sewer Construction in Maiden Choice
Public Works has started to construct more than a half mile of new sewer line in the Maiden Choice area to eliminate repeated sewer overflows at three relief points by increasing line capacity. The project began on November 2 and should be finished by July 2012; it will cost $1.8 million, say engineers

Traffic Calming
Beechwood and Beaumont Avenues, between Edmondson Avenue and Frederick Road, will receive traffic calming measures. Work will begin after the streets have been repaved.

Seven Speed Humps for Pleasant Valley Road
Pleasant Valley Road, between Crosby Road and Upper Mill Drive, has qualified for traffic calming measures. Construction of speed humps and a pedestrian island should begin before the end of the year.

Sewer Infrastructure in Maiden Choice
County contractors have been rehabilitating more than 6,000 feet of sewer line on Overbrook Road in Maiden Choice since June. The project will allow utility workers to remove a relief point in the sanitary system which has been contributing to sanitary sewer overflows during periods of heavy rains. The project is expected to be finished by the middle of next year and is estimated to cost $336,000.
