Digital Television Transition

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is offering assistance with the conversion to digital television that will take place in February.

According to the Commission, many people (especially seniors citizens) have not applied for coupons to get the converter boxes necessary for this transition. The FCC would like to help by going to group meetings, conventions, or any large group gatherings to demonstrate the converter box and urge people to call in or go online to order the coupons for these boxes. A representative will "walk folks through" the process and demonstrate the set-up of the converter box.

Community groups, senior centers, PTAs, etc. are asked to call Cathy Minderlein at 301-725-0940 to arrange for a FCC representative to attend an upcoming meeting and help members with the February 17 Digital Television Transition.

Information: Cathy Minderlein, FCC, 9200 Farm House Lane, Columbia, MD 21046. Call 301-725-0940 or 301-725-1996.
