Work began in November 2008 and is expected to be finished by late February 2010. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top Major Fix for the Patapsco Pump StationThe Department of Public Works is completely rehabilitating the Patapsco Sewage Pump Station, located near Annapolis Road in Halethorpe. The project, which began in November, is expected to be finished by August of next year, 2010. Engineers estimate the cost at $16 million. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top Hammonds Ferry RoadThe facelift for Hammonds Ferry Road in Lansdowne is almost done, say County engineers. The busy street has been resurfaced, trees planted, new sidewalks and traffic calming islands installed, streetlights mounted and a new bus stop erected. A few cross walks remain to be done, but the work (costing $2.3 million) will be finished well before the end of the year. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top Water Cleaning and Lining in LansdownePublic Works will improve the water lines in the area bounded by Hammonds Ferry and Hollins Ferry Road and the Baltimore City line. Water mains serving about 2,000 residences will be cleaned, relined and chlorinated. The project, which began in August, is expected to cost $2.2 million and should be completed within two years. It's now 20 percent complete. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top Bridge Repair (and stream restoration) near Spring GroveThe Department of Public Works plans to repair two bridges near Spring Grove in Catonsville on Valley Road. Both are between Wilkens and Holmes. Construction, which is expected to cost about $300,000, should begin by early January and be finished in the spring. The work also includes stream restoration. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top Water Line Replacement for Rolling RoadThe Department of Public Works will replace the aging and troublesome eight-inch water main on South Rolling Road, from Gun Road to UMBC's Research Park this fall. The new line will be 12 inches in diameter and cost $350,000. Construction began in October and should be completed in December - slightly ahead of schedule. It is now 60 percent complete. The installation of several speed humps is scheduled for the fall. Information: 410 -887-3554 Back to top An Island for EdmondsonPublic Works will construct a traffic-calming island at Edmondson and Rosewood avenues (ADC 48 16 K7) during the fall construction season. According to County engineers, the island will be a small, pedestrian refuge located near an existing cross walk and should contribute to pedestrian safety. The island, which is expected to cost about $5,000, will be eight feet by 20 feet, and will be located in the existing two-way center turn lane. Information: 410-887-3554 Back to top Storm Drain Repairs on Ivy LeagueAn eroded embankment behind houses on Ivy League Drive (between Rolling Road and the Community College) will be repaired next spring. Engineers from Public Works are planning to stabilize the site (which has developed into a fifteen-foot ravine) in April. They estimate the cost at $100,000.
