Citizen Input Meeting - Capital Improvement Program

The Baltimore County Planning Board, in conjunction with County agencies, welcomes citizens to participate in the annual review of the Capital Improvement Program for fiscal years 2011 through 2016. The Board will meet on Thursday, October 15 at 6 p.m. in the Jefferson Building, Room 104, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson. The meeting allows citizens' comments to be considered as County agencies formulate their requests. Agencies' requests will be submitted to the Planning Board in January for review and approval. If unable to attend, written comments may be provided to the Planning Board.

Rehab for the Patapsco Sewer Interceptor

Baltimore County is spending more than $23 million to clean, line and repair more than five miles of sewer line which parallels the Patapsco River between I-95 and Annapolis Road. Work began in November 2008 and is expected to be finished by late February 2010.

Major Fix for the Patapsco Pump Station

The Department of Public Works is completely rehabilitating the Patapsco Sewage Pump Station, located near Annapolis Road in Halethorpe. The project, which began in November 2008, is expected to be finished by August 2010. Engineers estimate the cost at $16 million.

Hammonds Ferry Road Improvements will be Finished in October

The facelift for Hammonds Ferry Road in Lansdowne is almost finished, say County engineers. The busy street has been resurfaced, trees planted, new sidewalks and traffic calming islands installed, streetlights mounted and a new bus stop erected. A few cross walks remain to be done, but the work (costing $2.3 million) will be finished well before the end of October.

Water Cleaning and Lining in Lansdowne

Public Works will improve the water lines in the area bounded by Hammonds Ferry and Hollins Ferry Road and the Baltimore City line. Water mains serving about 2,000 residences will be cleaned, relined and chlorinated. The project, which began in August, is expected to cost $2.2 million and should be completed within two years.

Bridge Repair and Stream Restoration Near Spring Grove

The Department of Public Works plans to repair two bridges near Spring Grove in Catonsville on Valley Road. Both are between Wilkens and Holmes. Construction, which is expected to cost about $300,000, should begin by early November and be finished in the spring. The work also includes stream restoration.

Water Line Replacement for Rolling Road

The Department of Public Works will replace the aging and troublesome eight-inch water main on South Rolling Road, from Gun Road to UMBC's Research Park this fall. The new line will be 12 inches in diameter and cost $350,000. Construction, say engineers, should begin in November and be completed in January, with cooperative weather.

Traffic Calming for Elm Avenue in Arbutus

Elm Avenue in Arbutus was recently approved for traffic calming measures. The installation of several speed humps is scheduled for the fall.

Notice of Public Hearing - Proposed Regulations of Police Initiated Towing

The Director of the Department of Permits and Development Management will hold a public hearing in Towson, Maryland on proposed regulations that apply to persons applying for and maintaining a Baltimore County Police-Initiated Towing License. Written comments referencing the proposed regulations shall be mailed or delivered to Room 105, County Office Building, 111 West Chesapeake Avenue, Towson, Maryland 21204 by Wednesday, October 21, 2009.

Description: A Police-Initiated Towing License replaces the Licensed Accident Towing License in accordance with Bill 67-07 enacted by the Baltimore County Council on September 4, 2007 which also directed that Police Department requests for towing be made to a County contractor who will provide the towing services requested.
