Planning Board Public Hearing

The Baltimore County Planning Board will hold a public hearing on the Planned Unit Development (PUD) Procedures on Thursday, September 3 at 5 p.m. in the Jefferson Building, Room 104, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson. The focus of the hearing is to establish a reasonable and consistent process for the Planning Board to hear, consider, and act upon Planned Unit Developments, authorized by Section 32-4-245 (c)(1), of the Baltimore County Code, 2003. Written comments may be sent to Arnold F. 'Pat' Keller, III, Secretary to the Board, Office of Planning, 105 W. Chesapeake Ave., Suite 101, Towson, MD 21204. Copies of the proposed regulations are available at the same address, or on the web site and in the libraries.

Planning Board Committee Meeting - Wind Turbines, Technical/Professional Presentations

The Planning Board Committee - Wind Turbines, Technical/Professional Presentations will meet on Tuesday, September 15 at 5 p.m. in the Jefferson Building, Room 104, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson. Citizens are invited to attend for informational purposes. Scheduled speakers include:

  • Andrew Gohn, Clean Energy Program Manager, Maryland Energy Administration
  • Representatives from BGE, Small Generator Interconnection Program (net metering)
  • Tim Fluharty, Fluharty Electric, installer of about 20 small wind turbines in Maryland

This meeting is being held as part of the Planning Board's consideration of zoning legislation to allow small wind energy systems for use by individual property owners in Baltimore County.

Citizens are invited to express their opinions about the future role of small wind energy systems in Baltimore County. This meeting is being held as part of the Planning Board's consideration of zoning legislation to allow small wind energy systems for use by individual property owners in Baltimore County.

Rehab for the Patapsco Sewer Interceptor

Baltimore County is spending more than $23 million to clean, line and repair more than five miles of sewer line which parallels the Patapsco River between I-95 and Annapolis Road. Work began in November and is expected to be finished by late February 2010.

Major Fix for the Patapsco Pump Station

The Department of Public Works is completely rehabilitating the Patapsco Sewage Pump Station, located near Annapolis Road in Halethorpe. The project, which began in November, is expected to be finished by August 2010. Engineers estimate the cost at $16 million.

Traffic Circle for Old Frederick and Edmondson

Public Works has completed the traffic circle at Edmondson and Old Frederick. The circle cost $150,000 and was completed on schedule.

Hammonds Ferry Road Improvements will be Finished in October

Hammonds Ferry Road in Lansdowne is getting a face-lift. As part of the Hammonds Ferry Streetscape Project the busy street will be resurfaced, tree will be planted, and contractors will install new sidewalks, streetlights, median strips and a new bus stop. The makeover project should be finished by October, say Public Works engineers, who note that curb and gutter work is finished and paving started in June.

Dorchester Road

Residents of Dorchester Road recently received approval for traffic calming on their street. Traffic Engineers will submit plans to residents for their review and approval this month. Dorchester Road is located between Johnnycake and Baltimore (ADC Map 4817 D3).

Water Cleaning and Lining in Lansdowne

Public Works will improve the water lines in the area bounded by Hammonds Ferry and Hollins Ferry Road and the Baltimore City line. Water mains serving about two thousand residences will be cleaned, relined and chlorinated starting in August. The project is expected to cost $2.2 million.

Bridge Repair near Spring Grove

The Department of Public Works plans to repair two bridges near Spring Grove in Catonsville on Valley Road. Both are between Wilkens and Holmes. Construction, which is expected to cost about $300,000, should begin by early November and be finished in the spring.

Water Line Replacement for Rolling Road

The Department of Public Works will replace the aging and troublesome eight-inch water main on South Rolling Road, from Gun Road to UMBC's Research Park this fall. The new line will be 12 inches in diameter and cost $364,000. Construction, say engineers, should begin in November and be completed in January, with cooperative weather.
