The Baltimore County Office of Community Conservation works with residents and a host of organizations to provide resources to strengthen communities.
The agency offers a series of incentive products that promote homeownership and foster improvements to existing homes. Over the past seven years, the agency has helped to attract more than 1,700 new homeowners to the county's older communities. Learn more about homeownership and home repair incentives here.
The agency also works with individual community associations and other nonprofit organizations interested in managing small improvement projects. Learn more about community action grants here.
Citizens can also help improve neighborhoods by working through agencies that provide volunteers and participating in civic events. The Office of Community Conservation coordinates events such as Pitch in for Progress, Rebuilding Together and Worldchangers, all of which seek a short-term commitment from volunteers who want to help a community.
In addition, the agency coordinates the annual Good Neighbor Week program, which recognizes outstanding volunteers while promoting harmony among people of different races, ethnic backgrounds and faiths. Call Jay Doyle at 410-887-3317 to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
