Q. How can I obtain a marriage license?
A. Marriage licenses are issued by the Clerk of the Court for Baltimore County at the County Courts Building, 401 Bosley Avenue, Towson, MD 21204. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The license is valid for ceremonies taking place within Baltimore County after a 48 hour waiting period and expires after 6 months.
It is only necessary for one person to apply for the license and should bring the following information for both applicants: name, address, age, social security number, place of birth, and marital status. If divorced or widowed, we need the exact date(s) and name(s) of the county and state in which the divorce/death occurred for both applicants. This applies for all divorces/death. ID is not required unless under age 18. Eighteen (18) is the legal age one can be married without parental consent. A fee of $35 (CASH ONLY) is required at time of issue. Q. How can I get a copy of my marriage certificate?
A. Copies of marriage certificates are available by mail or in person at the Baltimore County Clerk of the Court. The cost of the certificate is $5.50 and must be paid by cash, check or money order—credit and debit card are not accepted.
If your marriage took place on or after January 1, 1990, you may request a copy online via the Maryland Vital Statistics Administration.

- Wife's full maiden name (first/middle/last)
- Husband's full name (first/middle/last)
- Date of marriage (month/day/year)
- Cash, check or money order for $5.50

To request a marriage certificate by mail, please include:
- Wife's full maiden name (first/middle/last)
- Husband's full name (first/middle/last)
- Date of marriage (month/day/year)
- Check or money order for $5.50 made out to Clerk of the Court. Out-of-state checks are not accepted, money orders only.
- Applicant’s mailing address

Q. How can I get a copy of my divorce decree or annulment of marriage?
A. A copy of a Divorce Decree or Annulment of Marriage is available by mail or in person at the Baltimore County Clerk of the Court. There is no fee for verification of the divorce or annulment. Copies of the Decree or Annulment are 50¢ per page and must be paid by cash, check or money order—credit and debit card are not accepted. A certified copy is an additional $5.

Another Resource
Reports of Divorce and Annulment of Marriage are available from the Maryland Vital Statistics Administration from January 1, 1992 to the present for $12. The Division can verify the names of the persons divorced, the type of divorce action, the county in which the divorce took place, and the date of the decree. It cannot provide the official divorce decree or annulment of marriage.
