What Can You Do to Reduce False Alarms?
- Make sure everyone is familiar with the alarm system operations.
- Practice the process to cancel an accidental alarm. Everyone should know this process.
- Secure doors and window before turning on the system.
- Be aware of changes in the environment (i.e., new animals, design changes, seasonal decorations, plants, etc.)
- Keep pets, balloons, fans, heaters, etc. away from motion sensor areas.
- Know how much time you have after arming your system to leave and to disarm your system when you enter.
- Notify monitoring facility of any and all changes (houseguests, name changes, new employees, termination of employees, etc.)
- Routinely inspect and maintain equipment, by both the alarm user and qualified personnel.
