EAP/Mental Health Benefits

Plan Administrator is ComPsych Corporation

Baltimore County's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Managed Mental Health (MMH) for CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield Triple Choice members is administered by ComPsych Corporation.  The phone number to contact ComPsych for both EAP and MMH services is 1-877-595-5283.  ComPsych also provides Baltimore County employees and their dependents access to a variety of self-help tools and information on their web site www.guidanceresources.com—use the client name "baltimore" when accessing this site for the first time.

Using Baltimore County's EAP

Baltimore County employees, retirees and members of their households can contact the EAP for assistance with problems that may respond to short-term problem solving. The EAP can provide up to 8–10 counseling sessions at no charge.

In some instances, the EAP counselor may determine that you have a need for more intensive or longer term treatment than what is provided in the EAP setting. In those cases, the EAP will work with you to transition your care to the Managed Mental Health benefits provided by your health plan.

Managed Mental Health

Baltimore County employees and non-Medicare retirees enrolled in the CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield Triple Choice medical plan are required to contact the Plan Administrator for pre-authorization of mental health and substance abuse treatment. Members of County sponsored HMO plans must pre-authorize mental health and substance abuse treatment through their health plans Mental Health Management guidelines.

Health Plan Benefits

It is important to remember that except in cases of extreme emergency, all health plans require pre-authorization of mental health and substance abuse services. The benefit levels for County health plans can be found in the Mental Health section of this year's Open Enrollment Guide.
