The Legal Services for Senior Citizens program provides free legal assistance, consultation and/or representation to Baltimore County residents age 60 or over for specific types of cases. They can defend a senior in a lawsuit when there is a substantial risk to the client's person, property or civil rights.
The program offers assistance with legal problems involving:
- health care issues
- income maintenance
- housing and utilities
- protective services
- unemployment benefits
The program cannot handle wills, deed changes, estate planning, power of attorney, criminal charges, personal injury cases, traffic tickets and disputes with neighbors. In some instances, callers may be referred to other sources for free or reduced-fee legal help.
Call the Maryland Legal Aid hotline at 410-951-7750 and 800-896-4213 for access to the Legal Services for Senior Citizens program.
