Foot Health Talks

Join Dr. Jay Seidel, DPM, for a foot health educational talk series throughout 2016 from noon to 1 p.m., on a variety of topics at some of BCDA senior centers.

  1. Diabetes and its foot complications - Too much glucose, also called sugar, in your blood from diabetes can cause nerve damage and poor blood flow, which can lead to serious foot problems.
  2. Wound care and wound management - Podiatrists are in a unique position to be able to deliver the highest quality care to people suffering from foot wounds. This is due to the fact that podiatrists are experts in anatomy and biomechanics of the foot with background in both medicine and surgery.
  3. Bunion and hammertoe deformities - Bunions and hammertoes form when the normal balance of force that is exerted on the joints and tendons of the foot becomes disrupted. This can lead to instability in the joint and cause deformity.
  4. Fall prevention - For adults 65 and over, falls are the leading cause of injury-related death. Each year, more than one-third of older adults fall. Studies have shown that foot pain is associated with a risk of falling in men and women. Explains what you can do to prevent falls related to your feet.
