Tax Aide Counseling

Volunteer Tax Aide counselors are available to assist senior citizens with the preparation of Federal and State income tax returns.  This service is available through AARP, RSVP and the Baltimore County Department of Aging. Tax counseling service for the elderly and low-income residents is free and confidential.

Seniors are asked to make an appointment at one of the locations listed below and bring all of the following documents:

• Completed copy of 2010 tax returns, both Federal and State
• All 2011 forms that show income information (wages, salary, interest, dividends, sale of home, pensions, IRA distributions, state tax refunds, etc.), normally labeled W-2 and 1099.
• Any bank statements showing taxes and mortgage interest paid, broker's statement of stock sales, etc.
• All 2011 SSA-1099 and RRB-2009 forms reporting your Social Security and Railroad Retirement Benefits.
• All 2011 records showing possible deductions (medical payments, interest paid, taxes paid, contributions, miscellaneous deductions).
• All records of estimated tax payments.
• All Federal and State tax packets received in the mail that have your address label attached.
• Any homeowners' or renters' tax credit forms if you have previously filed for tax credits.

Tax preparations for 2012 will start early February  and continue through April 15. You will need to contact your local site for an appointment. The following is a list of the AARP Tax Aide  and senior center locations in Baltimore County:
