Senior Employment Services

Over the next decade, the number of Americans age 55 or older will increase by almost 30 percent - they will be working well beyond the traditional age of retirement. The goal of the Department of Aging is to provide employers and mature jobseekers with the resources needed to address the changing workforce.

Contact the Senior Employment and Housing Services office at 410-887-4006 for additional information on free registration and recruitment on the following services and programs:

Senior Community Service Employment Program (formerly Senior AIDES Program)

In the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), individuals age 55 and older are subsidized in part-time community service positions not to exceed 20 hours per week and are paid minimum wage.  These positions enable host agencies to increase service to the community and give participants new or updated skills that will enable them to enter the competitive job market.

Employment Services

Employers seeking mature adults 55 or older for their business needs can register job postings free of charge. Visit the Baltimore County Department of Aging's Job Fair website to post your job opportunities. Mature Workers are not obsolete, they are an ongoing resource to you and your business.

Senior Expo Job Bank Hotline

The Senior Expo Job Bank Hotline is available for businesses to register employment needs.

  • Job Seekers can call the hotline 24 hours a day at 410-887-2279 for a current list of employers' postings.
  • A Job Reference Book is also accessible in Baltimore County Senior Centers. Employers can fax job postings that will be distributed to nineteen community based senior centers.
  • The Department of Aging's award-winning newspaper "Senior Digest" will list employment opportunities from businesses that are registered with the Senior Employment office or participate in the annual Baby Boomer/Senior Expo Job Fair.

Baby Boomer/Senior Expo Job Fair

The Timonium Fairgrounds’ 4H Building is the location of the annual Baby Boomer/Senior Expo Job Fair, held in October. People age 50 and older that are looking for a job should plan to attend. Employers looking for older workers should plan to set up a booth. The Job Fair is sponsored by the Baltimore County Department of Aging, Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce and the Baltimore County Office of Employment and Training. Call 410-887-4006 for more information.
