Located in Woodlawn Village, the Woodlawn Senior Center is Baltimore County’s 19th senior center. Baltimore County residents age 60 and older are encouraged to visit the center and learn about the wonderful programs and activities offered each day. Read all about the new and exciting events, social gatherings, and exercise programs in our newsletter, the “Woodlawn Way” (PDF) or sign up to receive our e-newsletter.
We offer classes in aerobics and yoga, creative arts, Spanish, brain exercise (yes, brain exercise), plus a plethora of services provided by the Baltimore County Department of Aging such as health screenings, consumer information, volunteer training programs, noon lunch, shopping, transportation, and senior employment. There are also leisure activities like walking or playing pinochle, a center favorite. We have something for everyone at the Woodlawn Senior Center.
Woodlawn Senior Center challenges you to make a difference and become a volunteer. We have openings for front desk receptionists, program instructors, board members, kitchen servers and program/activity planners.
BCDA began its commitment to the senior citizens of Woodlawn on May 9, 2005 with the grand opening of the Woodlawn Senior Center. Due to overwhelming demand for additional programming space, the building was enlarged by 1,500 sq.ft. and the community celebrated with a grand re-opening ceremony on September 14, 2008. Today membership is over 450 and quickly approaching the 1,000 member goal set for 2011. The center has adopted "Home Away From Home" as its slogan since it reflects the feelings shared by so many of the residents of Woodlawn and surrounding communities. We encourage you to stop by (get directions), call 410-887-6887 or e-mail woodlawnsc@baltimorecountymd.gov to take advantage of the many programs and activities offered at the center. To learn about events offered at other county senior centers visit the aging calendar.
