Contact our office for specific program schedules and costs.

History of the Edgemere Senior Center

Since 1972, the center has been the core of activity for older adults in the Edgemere Community. The center was first located in the Fort Howard Elementary School, then the Edgemere Elementary School, and later, the Fred Myer Insurance Building. In 1999 a new building was constructed at 6600 Northpoint Road.

There have been several directors since the founding of the center. Credit must be given to Dorothy Rabuck and Jessie Pritchard who took all responsibilities until the first director Diane Beckyer was assigned in January 1973. Joan Conway was the director from 1992 to 2006. Nicole Sheehan is the current director.

Edgemere Senior Center is part of Baltimore County Department of Aging, and is one of 18 nationally accredited senior centers in Baltimore County. Senior center membership is open to all Baltimore County residents 60 years of age and older and their spouses, regardless of age. Non-county residents 60 years of age are also allowed to participate at the center on a space-available basis.
