Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Walk

We are pleased to announce the 2013 Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Walk will be held on the campus of CCBC Essex. This location is easily accessible to I-95 and I-695 and has plenty of parking. The 5K Run/Walk will start at 8:30 a.m. and the 1 Mile Walk will begin at 8:45 a.m. The race, which is professionally managed by Charm City Run, attracts over 1,200 participants. Awards are given for the top three male and female 5K finishers overall, as well as the top three male and female runners in all age categories. Door prizes will be awarded (must be present to win). All participants receive a complimentary premium T-shirt, water on the course, and post-race refreshments. Trophies will be awarded for largest team, most money raised by an individual and most money raised by a team.

Entry fees are:

  • Seniors (60 years and older) - $15
  • Juniors (6-17 years) - $15
  • Adults (18-59 years) 
    • $25 - Early Bird Special – Register by August 16 
    • $30 - Between August 17 and September 21 
    • $35 - Day of the Race
  • Snooze Runner - $25. I am sleeping in, but want to support senior fitness! Snooze runner registration includes premium T-shirt which must be picked up at a BCDA senior center.

Registration Opens: 6:30  a.m. 
Sponsor/Exhibitor Set-up: 6:30 to 7 a.m.
Warm-up Exercise Routine: 8:15 to 8:25 a.m.  
5K Race Start: 8:30 a.m.
One Mile Walk Start: 8:45 a.m.
Award Ceremony: 9:30 a.m.
Event End: 11:00 a.m.

Event will be held rain or shine. In the event of cancellation due to extreme weather, refunds will not be issued.

Course: Race Course roads will close at 8:15 a.m.

The race course is closed to bikes, skaters and baby joggers/strollers. Water will be provided on course and at the finish line.

Amenities: All pre-registered runners will receive a premium T-shirt (sizes and availability NOT guaranteed for day-of-race registration), water on course, entry in door prize drawings (must be present to win) and post-race refreshments. 

Volunteers will receive a volunteer T-shirt. Volunteers should check in on race day at Volunteer table.

Awards 5K: Top three men and women overall, and top three men and women finishers in the following age groups: 15 and under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over. Trophies will also be given to the largest team, most funds raised by a team and most funds raised by an individual.

All 5K participants age 50 and older will automatically be entered into the Maryland Senior Olympics results. Prizes will awarded in each age category.

Team Registration: Build morale and form a team from your senior center, company, social club, family or friends. Being part of a team is fun! You’ll build camaraderie and community while raising much-needed funds for senior exercise classes and fitness centers in Baltimore County. Team members receive all the benefits of individual race participants plus early packet pick-up. We encourage you to wear T-shirts displaying your team/center/company name or logo on race day.

CCBC Essex is located off Baltimore Beltway (695) Exit 34 (Rosedale).
At Exit 34, turn onto Maryland Route 7 (Philadelphia Road) heading towards White Marsh. Proceed one-quarter mile and turn left onto Rossville Boulevard. The campus is approximately one mile on the right adjacent to the Franklin Square Hospital Center.
Turn onto College Drive North.
Proceed and make right turn onto Division Lane.
